Jesse Moore Receives Award from Gov. Mike Pence at Indiana Black Expo Reception

INDIANAPOLIS – Jesse Moore, president of the Greater Lafayette Indiana Black Expo, was honored by Indiana Gov. Mike Pence at the Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration Governor’s Reception Tuesday (July 14).

Moore, Purdue University’s director of supplier diversity, won the Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership. He was honored with nine others from around the state who were recognized by Pence for their leadership.

The awards honor achievement in areas ranging from entrepreneurship and education to physical fitness. The other winners included:

Reverend Charles Williams Community Service Award: Former Representative Bill Crawford

Sam Jones Trailblazer Award: Genois Wilson Brabson, first female firefighter for the city of Fort Wayne

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Physical Fitness: Former Harlem Globetrotter Cleveland Harp

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership in Education: Carl Wilde Indianapolis Public School Lead Principal Joyce Akridge

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership in Military: Chaplain Obadiah Smith, Jr.

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership in Religion: Down But Not Out Inc. Executive Director an Founder Alphonso Bailey

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Entrepreneurship: Caleb Group Inc. Chief Executive Officer Gil Michel

Governor’s Award for Achievement in Civic Leadership in Community Service: Retired educator Frankye Calloway and Mapleton Fall Creek Neighborhood Association block captain Al Polin
