LAFAYETTE – The Greater Lafayette Indiana Black Expo, in conjunction with Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette, will host its sixth annual Back to School Rally at the Ivy Tech Community College courtyard from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25.
The Back to School Rally is the largest community event put on by the Greater Lafayette IBE, giving away book bags and school supplies to needy families across the Greater Lafayette area. Last year, more than 400 children benefitted from GLIBE Back To School Rally. This year, GLIBE has significantly increased its book bags and school supplies to serve more students.
The students and their families will also receive important information from community service vendors. The students and parents will be treated to food, games and prizes through the day.
The GLIBE, through events like its Corporate Luncheon and pre-Circle City Classic celebration, works to reach out into the community and provided educational programming that recognizes the contributions by African Americans.
The Greater Lafayette Indiana Black Expo is one of 12 local chapters of the Indiana Black Expo, a multifaceted community service organization that encourages, uplifts and celebrates the accomplishments and achievements of African-Americans throughout Indiana.
